Filed under: Uncategorized — sallymcnamara @ 12:33 pm

I know I know… I’m a month late, or 4 months early (depending on how you look at it!) but either way I thought it was a good idea to get started on some christmas cards. I will be holding a Christmas Stamp-A-Stack this Friday night, 1st August 2008 at my place at 7:30pm. Here is a sneak peak of the cards we will be making. You will get to make 8 cards, 4 each of 2 designs for $15 per person. I will provide some yummy christmas treats for supper. If you are in the Toowoomba area and would like to come along please email me at sallymcnamara@bigpond.com or phone me on 46385045 by Thursday. Hope to see you there!

Everything Baby

Filed under: Uncategorized — sallymcnamara @ 2:53 am

Wow, I’m on a roll. I’m actually keeping my blog up to date. There’s a first for everything! Here are the baby shower invitations that my mum and I made for my sister:

I used :

Stamps- Everything Baby, All in the family

Cardstock- So saffron, almost amethyst, whisper white, certainly celery

Inks- Almost amethyst, certainly celery, so saffron, close to cocoa

Accessories- Apricot Appeal Grosgrain ribbon, Scallop punch, Certainly Celery Prints Designer Series Paper, white gel pen, blender pens, corner rounder punch, 1&1/4 circle punch

After stamping the title on the whisper white strip, we rounded the corners with the corner rounder punch, and did the same to the second layer of So Saffron. We added the strip of certainly celery designer series paper to jazz it up a bit.

We then stamped the baby in Close to Cocoa using the “All in the family” set and  coloured her in using the blender pens and inkpads. We then punched her out with the 1&1/4″ circle punch. We punched a piece of certainly celery cardstock with the scallop punch, and added a dot to each scallop using the white gel pen. We used the slot punch to create a hole, and tied a piece of apricot appeal grosgrain ribbon through it. The baby was mounted on top of the scallop using stampin’ dimensionals to pop it up off the page.

Did you notice that I keep referring to the baby as a girl? Ever since Danielle told us that she and Tom were having a baby, I have had a really strong feeling that it’s a girl. I can actually see her in my mind wearing a particular outfit and all (though I can’t find an outfit like it in the shops!). So there you go… I was right about Mason being a boy so I wonder if I’m right this time. I guess we’ll find out in about 6 weeks time. Oooh how exciting!

Thanks for looking!

Hi there. Here is a picture of an accordian album I made recently for a class held by my friend Fiona. I haven’t actually added any photos to the album yet, but you get the idea!

This is what we used:

Stamps- Wanted, Bronc Buster, Bronco, Office Accoutrement

Cardstock- sage shadow, really rust, close to cocoa, chocolate chip, very vanilla, creamy caramel

Classic Stampin Pads- sage shadow, really rust, close to cocoa, chocolate chip

Accessories- photo corner punch, scallop punch, twill tape, Outlaw Designer series paper, 3/4″ circle punch, corner rounder punch, brads, sponges, blender pens.

Phew, I think that’s it. Most of the girls who made this had never done anything like this before, and they all did a great job and seemed to enjoy making them. I hope you have enjoyed having a look.

Mason’s Birthday

It’s official… my baby is not a baby any more! Mason turned two on Monday and we had a party for him with family and all of his little friends. Here are some photos from the big day:

This is one of the invitations I made for Mason’s party. They were all slightly unique with different sticker strips and different patterned paper. These little pocket invitations were very easy to make, as they are just a piece of cardstock scored, folded over and taped with sticky strip to form the pocket. The little tag insert was a bit trickier as I wanted to print the wording onto it, so I had to line up the stamp to align over the printing if you know what I mean. Once again the stamp-a-majig saves the day! I decided to use up stickers and papers from a scrapbook kit from the old catalogue to make the invites, as they matched perfectly with the “eat cake” stamp set which I wanted to use. The “confetti” simply scrappin kit from the current catalogue is very similar to the kit I used, but the colours are obviously different. I strongly recommend the use of these kits for invitations because there is more than enough in one pack to make the invitations and party bags, and then to make scrapbook pages of the event afterwards, and all for just $36.95 per kit (plus 5% for P&H). Bargain! I will post my scrapbook pages from Mason’s party once I get around to making them!

This is an example of the party bags I made. I forgot to get a photo of them all before I gave them out, so please excuse the grubby fingerprints! Once again, they were all unique while following the same colour scheme and design, but using different combinations and different stickers strips. And once again soooo easy, as I just used  noodle boxes from Lincraft and added the embellishments. They were also personalised with each child’s name.

And here is a photo of the birthday boy! He doesn’t usually look this scary… he had his face painted as Kung Fu Panda by Melmo the clown. I would strongly recommend her for children’s parties in the Brisbane, Gold Coast and Toowoomba areas. The kids loved her and she had a very gentle but fun approach. If you would like her number please leave me a comment or send me an email. Thanks for looking.

Time Well Spent

This is a gift I made for my sister for her birthday earlier in the year

… I know, yet another frame!! You must admit it’s pretty cute though? For this project I used the “Time well spent” stamp set which is a level 3 hostess reward which was lent to me by a friend. Yet another benefit of being a demonstrator… being able to borrow stamps from other demos! The colours are ruby red, chocolate chip, old olive and very vanilla. The pattern on the ruby red cardstock was created with the “sanded” background stamp which is also great for masculine cards and scrapbook pages. I also used some old olive designer series paper. Extra accessories used were the mat pack for the paper piercing, stampin-write markers to create faux-stitching, dazzling diamonds glitter, sponges and brads. All supplies are from stampin-up. Thanks for looking.

Friendly Flowers

Hi there. Colin is away out west for work, so I thought I’d use the time to catch up on my much neglected blog! Here is a happy flower card I made recently:

The inspiration for this card came from the sample on page 15 of the catalogue (check it out at www.stampinup.com). I just had to have this set when I saw it… it’s the lovely “In the Spotlight” which is a level 2 hostess set. This is a very versatile set and I use it all the time. The colours were almost amethyst, old olive, rose red and whisper white. I also used some Designer Series Paper in the rose red, left over from my Palette of Prints. I made the grass effect by snipping all along the edge of the old olive strip. I used the stamp-a-majig to align the stems. I love this tool! And here’s a close-up where you can see the scrumptious dazzling diamonds…

If you are interested in buying any of these products or to host your own workshop and earn the stamp set for FREE please email me or leave me a comment.

Another note holder July 8, 2008

Hi there. I apologise to those of you who have checked in lately only to find old posts. I have been a busy little beaver making wedding invitations for a friend at work, as well as birthday invitations for Mason, and lots of running around in between! But here is something new for you all to look at….

I have finally come up with my own note holder for a class on Thursday night, and it’s super easy! I just used chipboard which I cut down to size, and some magnetic clips. And then I decorated with:

Prints Designer Series Paper

Office Accoutrement stamp set

Baroque motifs stamp set (kindly lent to me by Melissa)

So Swirly  Stampin Around wheel

3/4″ circle punch

and the colours… regal rose, certainly celery, Old Olive and Chocolate Chip.

I hope you like it. Sorry about the washed out photo, but if I left it for another day, I’d never come back to it! Thanks for looking.
